Almost 1 million plastic bottles are purchased every minute. That’s 1.3 billion every day! And every year 8 million tonnes of plastic (inc bottles, packaging and other waste) enters our oceans. These facts are staggering and very difficult to get your head around.
So try to visualise this - every 2 days the equivalent of a plastic bottle pile the height and size of the Eiffel Tower is sold around the world!
The above link is for an article that Reuter’s (Singapore) did about a study to clearly show the extent of the worlds plastic pollution problem and it certainly makes for an interesting, yet frightening read.
Very slowly though, changes are being made.
The EU has voted to outlaw 10 single use plastic items, including straws and cutlery by 2021, and want all plastic packaging to be recyclable by 2030. But is this enough?
We all need to play our part in the war against plastic waste, reducing it one bottle at a time.

How can you make a difference? As we said earlier, we can all make a huge difference one bottle at a time. Stop buying those single use plastic items. Stop needlessly using plastic carrier bags. Stop buying plastic water bottles! There has never been a better time to get a reusable bottle and a water filter - eliminate the need for bottled water once and for all! Small, personal changes equate to an enormous, collective difference!
